Yazan Badran – FWO Junior Postdoctoral Fellowship
Satire across borders: production, content, and audiences of pan-Arab news satire
We are delighted to share the news that ECHO member, Dr. Yazan Badran, has been awarded a 3-year postdoctoral fellowship by the Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO). Badran’s research project will look at the transnational dimensions of pan-Arab news satire on a production, content and audience levels. The project will be supervised by Prof. dr. Kevin Smets. Dr. Badran was previously a PhD fellow of the FWO and defended his PhD in 2021. His doctoral research focused on the nascent media spheres in the Arab World that emerged following the 2011 uprisings.
