From October 10 to December 10, 2025, the Salle Allende on the Solbosch campus will host a new edition of ULB s’expose, the biennial event that celebrates the creativity of the community and alumni of the ULB. Valériane Mistiaen joins this collective exhibition with her project Utopie(s) en transit.
This visual and sound installation gave voice to young asylum seekers (11–17) through art and writing workshops at the Fedasil centre in Auderghem. Their works and recordings conveyed fragile yet powerful utopias of safety, peace, and belonging. I am particularly proud of this project because it merges research, artistic creation, and social engagement, making visible voices that are often unheard and translating my academic work on migration discourse into a participatory, public format.
Véronique Mistiaen, who is a journalist, helped with the writing workshops, Géraldine de Bellaing helped with the art workshops, Chloé Thôme helped with the graphic design and sound editing, and, of course, the residents of Fedasil were crucial, without them this project would not have been possible.
