Lines of Light: a retrospective of films that tackle the Irish border

From the 21st to the 25th of March, Scéal Eile: The Belgian-Irish Film Festival will offer a wide selection of Irish film titles in Brussels, Ghent, and Antwerp. The festival will not only have movie screenings but will also offer panel discussions and host Irish film scholars and actors.
Reel Borders contributed to Scéal Eile by curating the program of Lines of Light: a retrospective of films that tackle the Irish border. The films produced as part of the project will be screened on Saturday afternoon with the directors.
Wednesday 22/03
- 17:45: Panel discussion Beyond Brexit and Borders at Cinema Galleries (Brussels) Free Admission).
- 21:30: Wildfire (2020) at Cinema Galleries (Brussels). Pre-screening of Hyfin (2022).
Thursday 23/03
- 20:30 Traveller (1981) on 16mm at KASKcinema (Ghent). Pre-screening of Turf (2021)
Friday 24/03
- 20:15 Blarney (1938) at De Cinema (Antwerp). Pre-screening of border archival material with a live soundtrack of Nele De Gussem.
Saturday 25/03
- 14:30 Reel Border Shorts (2023) at Cinema Aventure (Brussels). With Q&A of the involved filmmakers (Free Admission).
- 20:00 Angel (1981) on 35mm at Flagey (Brussels). Pre-screening of Hard Border (2018). With an introduction of actor Stephen Rea.
