Far right fictions: The meanings of audiovisual fiction among ‘emerging citizens’ with far right sympathieS
STRAGTEGIC RESEARCH PROGRAMME (SRP) GROWTH FUNDING
It is with great pleasure that the ECHO research group announces the beginning of our new five-year research project supported by the VUB’s ‘Strategic Research Programme (SRP) - Growth Funding’, a research fund that supports research groups striving to become centres of excellence. Headed by Professors Joke Bauwens, Benjamin De Cleen, and Kevin Smets, the project will examine how far right youth in Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands incorporate (ideas taken from) audiovisual fiction into their online discourse and political activities, enabling the project to highlight national and transnational differences and similarities. ECHO member and previous visiting scholar Dr Omran Shroufi will be taking a leading role in developing the contours of the project as a temporary post-doctoral researcher, whilst ECHO’s newest member Briar Dickey will be carrying out in-depth and original research on far right youth and audiovisual fiction as a full time PhD researcher.
