The ABCeuta web documentary showcases 26 short essay films created during a participatory filmmaking (PF) workshop in Ceuta, a Spanish enclave in North Africa bordering Morocco. The films, created by Irene Gutierrez Torres, follow thirteen Moroccan cross-border women. All of them live and work in Ceuta, providing domestic services. These women have been restricted of entering their home country due to changing Spanish laws and irregular work schedules since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. This precarious reality is share by 2000 people in Ceuta and Melilla combined.
In this context, a petition is now live to gather signatures calling for change in the regularisation of Moroccan domestic workers in Ceuta and Melilla.
