Florian Stegen

Florian Stegen works as a teaching assistant and PhD student at the Department of Communication Studies at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). He graduated in 2022 from the VUB with a thesis on the importance of opening credits in different Hollywood franchises. The chosen film series (Psycho, The Pink Panther, Spider-Man and James Bond) span a period of over 60 years and are each associated with one or more key graphic designers of title sequences. This thesis research sparked his interest in paratext, audiovisual media and audience reception. In the next few months, he will work on a PhD proposal and start the doctoral programme.
