Yasemin Karsli: Since beginning my BA in Photography, I have been dedicated to documentary photography and film. My experiences as a resident and migrant in places I have lived have driven my work. First in Istanbul, and then in London, I have witnessed the changes that migration and gentrification have brought to these cities. Focusing on peoples’ lives as they go through these changes, they have become the key themes in my work. Further study and projects – in Jordan, Italy, and China – have reinforced these themes. Curently I am focusing on Turkish/Kurdish migration in London and Brussels for my PhD (joint PhD program between VUB and the University of Warwick).
